Kal-El, also known as Clark Joseph Kent and Superman, is a superhero and one of the main characters in the DC Extended Universe, appearing as the titular main protagonist of Superman: Man of Steel, one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Batman) of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the deuteragonist of the 2017 film Justice League and its 2021 director's cut Zack Snyder's Justice League, a cameo character in Shazam!.
Superman appears one of the minor characters in Space Jam: A New Legacy, with multiple different versions of him (including that of the DC Animated Universe) appearing throughout. He is also referenced in Looney Tunes: Back in Action, but does not appear.
Born to Jor-El of Krypton, Kal-El was evacuated to Earth by his parents in an attempt to save him before Krypton's destruction. He was found in the village of Smallvile by Martha and Jonathan Kent, who raised him as his own and renamed him Clark Kent. As an adult and journalist, he discovered his powers and came into conflict with General Zod, one of his father's enemies, and the Sword of Rao, eventually destroying him in a devastating battle in Metropolis and falling in love with his fellow colleague Lois Lane.
Kal-El is portrayed by Henry Cavill.
